Students must achieve a minimum grade of 70% in each Group 1 course and a minimum grade of 80% on the Comprehensive Assessment I to be eligible to continue into Group 2 courses. Alberta ACHI training is a combination of the Internachi Alberta on line training and locally based field training. Here are the most common problems that the home inspectors find.

The professional home inspector is required, both verbally and in writing, to describe the inspection process and communicate inspection findings to the client. Students develop their oral and written communication skills and learn the reporting requirements and proper conduct for a professional home inspector.

The instructor will be using a Windows operating system for these courses and will not be able to allocate instructional time navigating or troubleshooting differences between Mac/Windows OS. How to Become a Home Inspector in Alberta

The form provides directions for where to submit your request. This document needs to clearly identify the student, the course requested, the start dates for each course requested, and the contact information of the sponsoring organization and invoicing contact. The program area will provide further directions if your course requires textbooks, software or other materials that need to be purchased elsewhere. Register for a free event, take training, test-drive inspection tools, attend chapter meetings, and inspect the House of Horrors®. Home inspectors can take InterNACHI's free, online Continuing Education courses provided by InterNACHI® School at no additional cost. The emphasis in this course is on cooling systems and heat pumps. Students will also learn to identify typical defects and apply correct inspection techniques.

This course starts with a description of house electricity and develops an understanding of the basics. The course moves on to address getting electricity into the house and distributing it safely to its end use points including switches, lights and receptacles. The course is designed to provide students who do not have an electrical background with the skills necessary to perform the electrical portion of a professional home inspection.

Ashton College uses web conferencing tools to help instructors and students connect and collaborate live online. For the online classes, students need to have a fully functional computer system with a webcam, speakers and microphone or headset and headphones, along with a reliable high-speed internet connection. Though the classes can be accessed using smartphones and tablets, we recommend using a laptop or desktop computer for a better learning experience. Ashton College's online home inspection courses are approved by both Consumer Protection BC and the Government of Alberta for licensing purposes.
